We are not in hurry to see the US return to a 2015 nuclear deal: Supreme leader of Iran
New Delhi: The Supreme leader of Iran on Friday expressed his views over the 2015 nuclear deal and said “Iran is in no hurry to see the US return to a 2015 nuclear deal with major powers after Joe Biden takes office this month.”
Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said that “It was not a question of whether the United States returns or not, but it was a matter of it lifting its unilateral sanctions.”
The Washington government has imposed sanctions on the Tehran government in doubt of Iran’s nuclear program activities.
“We are in no rush and we are not insisting on their return, but our demands are logical and rational and it is the lifting of sanctions. The outgoing US President Donald Trump re-imposed the sanctions after quitting the deal in 2018,” Supreme leader said to the media.
The Iranian Supreme Leader further added that “we are talking about our rights which were stolen from Iran. If the sanctions are lifted, the return of the Americans makes sense,”
According to the political experts from Iran, “Tehran government has suspended all activities which had forced the US to think that Iran is developing nuclear weapons and now Iran expects the US to withdraw the sanctions.”
Other parties to the agreement, notably Britain, France and Germany, have pressed Iran to return to its commitments in a bid to rescue the deal, but Iran has repeatedly demanded that the United States first lift its crippling sanctions.
“When the other party meets practically none of its obligations, it is not logical for the Islamic republic to honour all of its commitments, if they return to their commitments, we will return to ours,” Khamenei said.
On the coronavirus vaccines import, The Supreme leader has also said that “Imports of US and British vaccines into the country are banned. I have told this to officials and I’m saying it publicly now.”
