Veteran Odia actor Raimohan Parida commits suicide
New Delhi: In a devastating turn of events, Veteran Odia film actor Raimohan Parida passed away on Friday, June 24, 2022. He was 58.
His family members found the body on Friday morning. The reports confirmed his death as an attempt to suicide though the police are still investigating the matter.
The actor’s hanging body was recovered from his house at Prachi Vihar, Palasuni area, Bhubaneshwar, on Friday morning. Though he committed suicide as per reports, the reason behind the act is yet to be ascertained.
Several actors from the industry visited the late actor to express their grief and pay condolences. Popular actor Sidhant Mahapatra said, “It is hard to believe that such a jolly person, who has experienced several ups and downs in life, can think of doing something like this. He was highly successful in the profession.”
Parida began his journey in the Odia film industry with film Sagar and went on to work in over 100 films, including Bandhana, Asibu Kebe Saji Mo Rani, Tu Thile Mo Dara Kahaku, Mo Mana Khali Tumari Pain, and Udandi Seeta, among others.
Parida was from Keonjhar and had acted in 15 Bengali films, in several Odia TV shows, and was a popular figure in theatre. The veteran actor was one of the most famous villains of the Odia Jatra world.
Raimohan Parida is a recipient of the Odisha State Film Award and the Abhinandia puraskar. He is survived by wife and two daughters.
