US: Four Killed in a mass shooting in California, Two Injured
New Delhi: Four people including two children killed in a mass shooting on Wednesday evening in Southern California, USA.
The California police officer on the incident said “The shooter, whose motivations are so far unknown, was shot by an officer and taken to hospital.” This is the third mass shooting in the United States in two weeks.
“The Orange Police Department on Wednesday evening received a call about shots being fired at 202 W. Lincoln Avenue in Orange, and the two-storey office complex contains a number of small businesses,” A spokesperson of the police department said.
Governor of California Gavin Newsom criticized the incident and said “Our hearts are with the families impacted by this terrible tragedy tonight.”
The incident comes days after eight people, six of them of Asian descent, were killed in a series of shootings at Atlanta-area spas. Six days later, a man opened fire in a supermarket in Boulder, killing 10.
A representative for California – Katie Porter said that “she and her team are monitoring the situation.”
“I am deeply saddened by reports of a mass shooting in Orange County, and I am continuing to keep victims and their loved ones in my thoughts as we continue to learn more,” Katie Porter tweeted.
Orange Police Lt. Jennifer Amat said that “I can tell you that we haven’t had an incident like this in the city of Orange since 1997. It’s just such a tragedy for the victims, their families, our community, and our police department.”
News of the mass shooting drew immediate condemnation.
