Tokyo Paralympics: Shooter Singhraj Adhana bags bronze medal
New Delhi: Indian athlete Singhraj Adhana won a bronze medal in the P1 class of Men’s 10m Air Pistol SH1 category during the ongoing Tokyo Paralympics on Tuesday.
He shot a total of 216.8m and finished third at the Paralympics. Earlier, Adhana had qualified for the 8-man final medal round after making it among the top six.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated him on Twitter. Sharing a picture with Adhana, he wrote, “Exceptional performance by Singhraj Adhana! India’s talented shooter brings home the coveted Bronze Medal. He has worked tremendously hard and achieved remarkable successes. Congratulations to him, and best wishes for the endeavors ahead.”
Manish Narwal finished seventh in the finals. Shooter Deepender Singh could not enter the finals after finishing tenth in the qualifiers.
Earlier, Bhagyashri Jhadav grabbed the seventh spot with a personal best of seven scores in the shot put finals. Rubina Francis was also placed seventh in the P2 Women’s 10m Air Pistol SH1 finals.
However, after qualifying in the elimination round against a Slovakian player, Indian archer Rakesh Kumar lost the quarterfinals of the Men’s Individual Archery Event to China.
Bhavina Patel and Sonal Patel lost to Chinese player Ying Zhou in Class 4-5 Women’s table tennis quarterfinals by 0-3.
