New Delhi, April 3: The second meeting on the empowerment and progression of women’s economic representation (EMPOWER) under India’s G20 presidency is scheduled to take place from April 4 to 6 at Tiruvananpuram, Kerala.
The theme of the meeting with EMPOWER is “women’s empowerment: a win-win for equity and the economy.”
The primary reason for holding the meeting of EMPOWER with the G20 alliance is to accelerate women’s leadership and empowerment in the private sector, and India’s presidency in the G20 agenda is to advance India’s woman-led development. On the 11th and 12th of February, the inception meeting was held in Agra.
On the first day of the meeting, April 4, an important issue will be discussed in the form of a penal debate; on April 5, the main meeting will begin on the topic of achieving economic prosperity by empowering women, with the minister of state for women’s affairs and Chinese development in attendance.
On the final day of the meeting, April 6th, the penal session will focus on identifying key outcomes and establishing action priorities for women’s empowerment.
With that, the exhibition will be held at the national institute of fashion technology along with the main event to showcase women’s engagement in the production of tea, coffee, women-led farmers’ producer organisations, handloom and hemp crafts, and much more important aspects of production.
Women’s empowerment is not only a social justice issue but also of economic importance. Whereas the G20 member countries together represent more than 80 percent of the world’s GDP, 75 percent of international trade, and 60 percent of the world’s population, taking action to promote women’s empowerment will have a significant impact on women’s empowerment and gender equality.
