Thai court clears ex-PM Thaksin Shinawatra in royal insult case, lawyer says
A court in Thailand on Friday cleared former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra of charges of violating the country’s strict law on royal insults, his lawyer told Reuters.
The court has yet to publicly announce the decision.
Influential billionaire Thaksin had denied wrongdoing in the case brought by the royalist military stemming from a 2015 interview he gave to foreign media. He has repeatedly pledged allegiance to the crown.
