Tennis: Spanish legend Rafael Nadal withdraws from Monte Carlo Masters
New Delhi, Apr 5: Tennis icon Rafael Nadal on Thursday announced not to compete in the Monte Carlo Masters, starting on Sunday.
Rafael,37, had a hip injury during the 2023 Australian Open, which sent him out of the tennis court until now.
“Hi all, these are difficult moments for me, sporting-wise. Unfortunately, I have to tell you that I’m not going to be playing in Monte Carlo. My body simply won’t allow me,” he said on Instagram.
His injuries had also forced the 22-Grand Slam champion to withdraw from Qatar Open and India Open in March.
After missing the French Open last year, Nadal said 2024 will be the last year for his tennis career.
