Tennis: Murray hopes injury will not stop him to compete at Wimbledon
New Delhi, June 20: British tennis icon Sir Andy Murray hopes that, despite the back injury, he will be able to play at the 2024 Wimbledon, which is expected to be his last, the media reported on Thursday.
Due to a back injury, Murray,37, pulled out from the Queens Club tournament on Wednesday during the second round of the match against Australian competitor Jordan Thompson.
“Let’s hope it will be ok with some rest and treatment, and I’ll still be able to play at Wimbledon,” Murray said.
Earlier this week, he said publicly he felt ending his tennis career after this year’s Wimbledon or Olympics.
Andy Murray has won the Wimbledon title twice, in 2013 and 2016.
The 2024 Wimbledon is starting on July 1. Andy Murray with his older brother Jamie Murray will play doubles at the tournament for the first time.
