New Delhi, June 24: Italian youngster Jannik Sinner, who became the World Number One this month, claimed his first title after beating Herbert Hurkacz at the final of the 2024 Halle Open on Sunday, the media reported.

Sinner,22, won 7-6,10-8,7-6,7-2 against Poland’s Hurkacz who is world no.7. After winning the Halle Open title, Sinner said he is aiming to perform well at Wimbledon, beginning on July 1.

“Last year I made it to the semi-finals, and I played some good tennis. So, let’s see what’s coming this year. I have one week now to prepare. So, hopefully, it’s going to be a good tournament,” Sinner said.

Grand Slam winner, Sinner became the World Number One earlier in June after replacing Serbian Novak Djokovic.

Sinner won his first Grand Slam title at the Australian Open in January.
