Tennis: Andy Murray knocked out at the French Open
New Delhi, May 27: Tennis veteran Andy Murray, 37, was knocked out at the 2024 French Open after he lost to the world no.98 Stan Wawrinka, the media reported. Murray lost 6-4,6-4,6-2 to the 2015 French Open champion Stan Wawrinka.
“I’d like to go out with winning a match or a tournament but it doesn’t happen that way for most players,” Murray told reporters on Sunday. He competed at the French Open four times but never won this tournament.
Three Grand Slam champion, Murray revealed that he is planning to retire from tennis this year “I don’t plan on playing much past this summer.”
After defeating Murray, Swiss Wawrinka praised him, “It was emotional, for sure. We are getting closer to the end.”
Sir Andrew Barron Murray, OBE, is a British professional tennis player, ranked world No. 1 in singles by the Association of Tennis Professionals for 41 weeks and finished as the year-end No. 1 in 2016, the media added.
