Taliban leader Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar likely to become the president of Afghanistan
New Delhi: The Co-founder of the insurgent group Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar is likely to become the new president of Afghanistan as President Ashraf Ghani left the country. Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar is one of the top leaders of the Taliban.
Baradar on Sunday said that the terror group’s victory that saw all cities of the country fall to them in just 10 days was unexpectedly swift and had no match in the world.
According to the media report, Abdul Ghani Baradar, the Taliban’s political head, was arrested in Pakistan in 2010. He was freed from a Pakistani jail on the request of the US less than three years ago and was relocated to Qatar. In 1994, he helped his former commander Mohammad Omar found the Taliban in southern Afghanistan.
The government of Afghanistan collapsed on Sunday as the group of Insurgents entered the Capital of the Country, taking the control of the Presidential palace, and Ghani left Afghanistan.
After leaving the country, President Ghani on his Facebook account written that “The Taliban have won with the judgment of their swords and guns, and are now responsible for the honor, property, and self-preservation of their countrymen.”
The new challenge for the Taliban will be to develop relations with other countries.
