NEW DELHI, July 7: Tahawwur Hussain Rana, one of the main conspirators of the 26/11 Mumbai attack, has made some explosive revelations disclosing that he was in the city at the time of the carnage and also was one of the trusted agents for the Pakistan army, according to sources.
Rana, who currently is in Tihar jail under the custody of the National Investigation Agency (NIA), confessed to the Mumbai Crime Branch during questioning that he and his friend and aide David Coleman Headley had several training sessions with Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba.
According to reports, Rana had stated that he had opened the immigration centre so that financial transactions could be adjusted as expenses. Further, he also confessed that he was in Mumbai at the time of the attack and was part of the terror plans.
According to officials, he had also inspected places like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and believed that the 26/11 attacks were carried out in collaboration with Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence, according to the sources.
He was also sent to the army in Saudi Arabia during the Khaleej War, according to sources.
Rana was taken into custody in May by the NIA after brought to India repatriated from the US. He has been questioned by the NIA on multiple charges, and Last month, a Delhi court had extended Rana’s judicial custody till July 9.
