Shabaash Mithu trailer releases on Monday
Mumbai: The makers unveiled the official trailer of upcoming film, Shabaash Mithu, on Monday, June 20, 2022. The film will release in theatres on July 15, 2022.
The two minutes and 44 seconds-long trailer opens with Taapsee Pannu in the field as she hits continuous fours and sixes, followed by childhood visuals of cricketer, Mithali Raj, on whom the biopic is based.
Talent of a young Tamilian girl, Mithali, is eventually noticed by elders and her training for the sport begins. Though some trainees looked down upon her as the girl from English Medium, she rose above struggles and voices her opinions to receive recognition in the form of personalised team jerseys with names written.
Talking about the contribution of Mithali, actor Taapsee had previously said, “There are cricketers who have records under their name. There are cricketers who have tremendous fan following. There are cricketers who inspire you and make you believe that if they can so can you! And then there’s Mithali, who did all of this in her classic graceful style and also changed the game of cricket where the presence of women in concerned.”
“Not just in our country but she will be remembered for her contribution to womens’ cricket across the globe. I just got too fortunate as a fan, who got to live her glorious journey of 23 years for a bit on camera which taught me so much about resilience and perseverance. She is truly a legend we can never thank enough,” she added.
