Jodhpur: Violent clashes broke out in Jodhpur and left at least four policemen injured in the early hours of Tuesday. After Monday’s clashes in Rajasthan’s Jodhpur, stones have been pelted at the police today at Jalori Gate.
According to a media report, On Monday, a dispute started over the removal of the Hindu flag and installation of a Muslim flag at the Jalori Gate intersection. A banner was also put up near Jalori circle and a loudspeaker was installed.
The demonstrators removed the flag and banner, causing an uproar. The members of the other community got angry and clashes broke out between the two groups. Communal tension broke out in the Jalori Gate area in Jodhpur, following which the police lobbed tear gas shells to control the situation, an incident that took place hours before Eid.
The clashes were reported as Rajasthan prepared to mark the festivals of the Islamic festival of Eid and the Hindu festival of Akshaya Tritiya, being celebrated across the country on Tuesday.
“It is unfortunate that tension has arisen due to the clash between two groups at Jalori Gate, Jodhpur. The administration has been instructed to maintain peace and order at all costs,” the chief minister wrote in Hindi.
“All 2G/3G/4G/ Data (Mobile Internet), bulk SMS/MMS/Whatsapp, Facebook, Twitter, and other social media services through Internet service providers (except voice calls, broadband Internet, leased lines have been temporarily suspended till further orders in the entire Jodhpur district.
