New Delhi: Queen Elizabeth II’s platinum jubilee celebrations to the throne began with the Trooping the Colour ceremony on Thursday, June 02, 2022, and an iconic appearance from the Buckingham Palace balcony.

The Queen ended the first day of the celebrations with a dual beacon lighting ceremony with Prince William. She led the lighting of the Principal Platinum Jubilee Beacon from the Quadrangle of the Windsor Castle while the Prince represented her at the Buckingham Palace, where the beacon was officially lit.

The beacon forms a 70-feet tall Trees of Trees sculpture and hours Her Royal Highness’s 70 years on the throne. The palace officials reported that over 3000 beacons were lit across the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth to celebrate The Queen’s 70 years of service.

Meanwhile, the Queen skipped the Thanksgiving service at St Paul’s Cathedral on Friday, June 03, 2022. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle too arrived to the UK on Friday to participate in the four-day long festivities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of UK’s longest reigning monarch.
