Prime Video unveils trailer of Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power
Mumbai: OTT giant, Amazon Prime Video released the trailer of the highly anticipated series, Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power on Saturday, July 23, 2022. The series will be available for exclusive streaming for Prime members from September 02, 2022 onwards.
The three-minute clip was launched for Hall H audience at the San Diego Comic-Con. The makers and the cast assembled in the Hall H stage with nearly 6500 fans in the convention centre hall. The cast and creators interacted with fans in person for the first time, thereby discussing the process of bringing the Second Age to life.
The trailer showed glimpses of the OTT giant’s take on J.R.R. Tolkien’s work. The series is set thousands of years before the Lord of the Rings, delving into the Second Age of the history of Middle-earth.
This epic drama is set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings books, and will take viewers back to an era in which great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and fell to ruin, unlikely heroes were tested, hope hung by the finest of threads, and one of the greatest villains that ever flowed from Tolkien’s pen threatened to cover all the world in darkness.
The trailer also provides a clearer view of various characters in the series, with the harbinger of darkness and only named in codes before, Sauron, being the most noteworthy. Sauron is not only called by name, but is also unveiled in the trailer.
The official synopsis reads, “Beginning in a time of relative peace, the series follows an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle-earth. From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains, to the majestic forests of the elf capital of Lindon, to the breathtaking island kingdom of Númenor, to the farthest reaches of the map, these kingdoms and characters will carve out legacies that live on long after they are gone.”
The show will be available in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam languages.
Directed by JA Bayona, Wayne Yip, and Charlotte Brändström with JD Payne and Patrick McKay as show runners, The Rings of Power feature actors Robert Aramayo, Nazanin Boniadi, Owain Arthur, Maxim Baldry, and Morfydd Clark in pivotal roles.
