New Delhi: Sir Syed Express train’s accident with a Millat Express in Pakistan’s Sindh province killed at least 30 people. Pakistani media on Monday reported that Sir Syed Express train collided with a Millat Express between Reti and Daharki railway stations in Ghotki in Pakistan.
It was not clear what caused the derailment and subsequent crash and around 1100 passengers were aboard the trains.
Pakistani Deputy Commissioner Usman Abdullah said “Police and rescue officials, along with villagers, were transporting the dead and injured passengers to nearby hospitals. Locals were also helping pull out bodies and injured people from the wreckage.”
“Right now the challenge for us is to quickly rescue those passengers who are still trapped in the wreckage,” said Abdullah.
