Pakistan PM calls for peace with India at UN General Assembly
New Delhi: A country- punished by nature and financially unstable – Pakistan has expressed its views to develop good relations with the New Delhi government. A top leader of Pakitan, Shehbaz Sharif at the UN General Assembly spoke on Pakistan’s desire for peace with India.
Shehbaz Sharif, the prime minister of Pakistan, remarked at the UNGA said, “We are neighbors and we will be there forever. The option is ours whether we live in peace or keep on warring with each other.
Prime Minister of Pakistan added, “We seek peace with all of our neighbors, including India; yet, enduring peace and security in South Asia remain reliant on a fair settlement of the Jammu and Kashmir conflict. Regarding Kashmir, India has maintained its steadfast stance that the entire Union territory is an essential component of India.”
Since 1947, we have fought three wars, and as a result, suffering, poverty, and unemployment have multiplied on both sides. It is now up to us to settle our disputes, difficulties, and challenges via amicable talks and negotiations,” he continued.
While speaking at the 77th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session in New York, the United States, he delivered these remarks.
Shehbaz Sharif also spoke extensively about Pakistan’s situation in the wake of the disastrous floods that struck the nation. “More than 1500 members of my people—including more than 400 children—have perished in this massive flood. Many more people are at risk of illness and starvation. Millions of climate migrants are still searching for dry ground to set up camp on as we speak.”
Despite a restart of the IMF accord, it is projected that the exceptional floods in Pakistan inflicted losses of USD 18 billion and worsened macroeconomic fundamentals.
According, Nearly 600,000 of the 7.6 million people who have been displaced by the floods in Pakistan are now living in relief camps.
