Oscars 2022 introduces Fan Favourite Award
New Delhi: The 94th Academy Awards will introduce awards under the Fan Favourite Film category for the first time since inception. The announcement came after several blockbusters like Spiderman: No Way Home and No Time to Die failed to earn the Oscar Nominations in major categories.
The awards allowed the fans to select their favourite movie. Fans can log in and vote for their favourite film under various categories on Twitter. The Academy Awards took to Twitter to announce the decision.
“Vote for your favourite movie of 2021. Vote upto 20 times a day till March 03, 2022. Submit your picks at oscarsfanfavourite.com or Tweet your picks with #OscarsFanFavourite and #Sweepstakes,” the Academy awards tweeted.
The Academy Vice-President of Digital Marketing, Meryl Johnson, said, “The move will help build an engaged and excited digital audience leading up to this year’s ceremony. It will allow fans to engage with the show in real-time, find a community, and be a part of the experience in ways they’ve never been able to before.”
The Oscars 2022 also decided to introduce favourite cheering moments in a film. Viewers can also vote for their favourite cheer moments from the 2021 movies and win prizes. “Vote for your most cheer-worthy movie moment ever for a chance to win a year of free movies,” the academy awards tweeted under the #OscarsCheerMoment.
Hollywood actors Amy Schumer, Regina Hall, and Wanda Sykes are speculated to host the award ceremony on March 27, 2022.
