Srinagar:  The Security Forces in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday killed a top commander of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in the encounter. Around 27 terrorists have been killed so far in Jammu and Kashmir in July only. A top commander was annihilated by the security forces in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district – identified as Amir Ahmad Mir from Checki Cholan in Shopian and he was active in the valley since 2017.

As per the information of the presence of terrorists in Damhal Hanjipora in south Kashmir, the security agencies launched a cordon and search operation. However, as the forces were conducting searches in the area, terrorists open fired upon them. The forces retaliated leading to a gunbattle in which the LeT terrorist was killed.

Army’s 62 Rashtriya Rifles and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted the Joint operation.

On July 23, IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar said that two Lashkar terrorists were killed during the Sopore encounter. One of the slain terrorists was identified as Fayaz War, who was involved in several attacks on security forces.

A few days back, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Vijay Kumar had also confirmed that “three terrorists, including Pakistani LeT Commander Aijaz alias Abu Huraira and two local terrorists, were neutralized by the security forces in Kashmir. Huraira was active in Srinagar and Pulwama.”
