Mumbai: The Muslim Body ‘Jamiat-Ulma-I-Hind’ in Maharashtra has requested all mosques in the state to ask permission from the state government for use of loudspeakers at the Mosque.

An appeal arrive at a time when Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray warned the state government that if loudspeakers are not removed from mosques by May 3 then MNS workers will install speakers outside mosques and play Hanuman Chalisa.

Raising the pitch for Hindutva, MNS president Raj Thackeray on Sunday said he will visit Ayodhya on June 5 to take darshan of Lord Ram and appealed to “Hindu brothers” to “be prepared” if loudspeakers are not removed from mosques by May 3.

However, In view of this development, Gulzar Azmi, Jamiat-Ulama-i-Hind secretary for the Maharashtra unit said that “most of the mosques in the state have taken permission for the use of loudspeakers.”

The Maharashtra Home Department on Monday had decided to implement the earlier court orders on the use of loudspeakers at religious sites. The state government will now make it mandatory for religious sites to take permission for using loudspeakers.
