Lightening robbery: In 90 seconds, robbers loot valuables worth $2 mn!
New Delhi: In a mid-day daring crime, four masked robbers broke into a family-owned jewelry store in Seattle, USA, on Thursday and made off with diamonds and other items worth USD 2 million (Rs. 17.53 crore) in just 90 seconds, the media reported on Saturday.
Videos from the West Seattle store’s CCTV surveillance cameras showed four masked thieves shattering the locked glass front door with hammers and then ransacking six display cases on Thursday, before they took away the booty.
Police said smash-and-grab thieves made off with an estimated USD 2 million in diamonds, luxury watches, gold, and other items in just about 90 seconds.
One of the window displays exhibited around USD 750,000 worth of Rolex watches, and another had an emerald necklace valued at USD 125,000.
A masked suspect threatened workers with bear spray and a Taser, police said, but no one was injured.
Police said they responded to the robbery but the suspects had already fled in a getaway car and eluded a search of the area.
