J&K: Two Policemen martyred in a terrorist attack, 12 Injured
Srinagar: At least two policemen on Monday lost their lives in the fight against terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir Zewan area. In this incident, around 12 policemen got injured in a sneak attack by separatist militants.
The police sources said that the bus carrying the personnel of the IRP’s 19th Battalion came under attack at Aripora along the Pantha ChowkKhanmoh link road near Zewan, about 14-km southeast of the city center.
According to the police “The condition of a few injured policemen is stated to be critical. The attack was carried out by an offshoot of the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM). the militants fired their automatic weapons indiscriminately,”
It was the first major attack on security forces in the Valley since the abrogation of J&K’s special status in August 2019 and the Pulwama car bombing that killed 40 CRPF personnel in February that year.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the loss of lives in the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir and sought details on the incident.
