Japan may become the first country to ban Petrol-Diesel cars by 2030: Report

New Delhi: The government of Japan may ban the selling of Petrol-Diesel cars by mid-2030 to increase sell of hybrid or electric vehicles in the country. Japan may become the first nation in the world to ban sales of new gasoline-engine cars, report says.

Prime Minister of Japan – Yoshihide Suga’s government has already decided to reduce the carbon emission to zero on a net basis by 2050.

The chief government spokesman Katsunobu Kato on Thursday said that “Japan’s industry ministry will map out a plan by the year-end. The ministry is considering requiring all new vehicles to be electric cars including hybrid vehicles and would finalise a formal target following expert-panel debates as early as the year-end.”

American management consulting firm – Boston Consulting Group said that “In Japan, the share of electricity vehicles is expected to increase to 55 percent in 2030 and globally – the speed of expansion of the share of electric vehicles will accelerate due to the fact that battery prices are falling more rapidly than previously expected”

The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom – Borin Johnson has also said that “London government will ban sales of new petrol and diesel powered cars and vans from 2030 and it will be a green revolution in the country.”

China, Japan and South Korea are recently announced firm targets to end net emission of carbon. Policies and investments in the next few years will be crucial to setting the pathways to carbon neutrality, climate activists and energy transition strategists all cooperated for this.

According the data of private company – In 2019 – there were approximately 78.4 million motor vehicles in use in Japan, up from about 75.4 million vehicles in 2010. Total motor vehicle figures include cars, trucks, buses, as well as special purpose vehicles.
