Srinagar: A top Commander of Pakistan-based terrorist group ‘Lashkar-e-Taiba’ (LeT) was killed in an encounter with security forces. The Indian Army conducted a special operation in Maloora Parimpora on Monday after getting information from sources.

Srinagar, IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar said earlier today “Abrar was killed in an exchange of fire that was triggered after a police party searching a location he pointed to was fired upon.”

Vijay Kumar further said Abrar was arrested on Monday. During interrogation, he disclosed that he had kept his weapon, an AK-47 rifle in a house.

“When the party was entering the house to recover the weapon, one of his associates hiding inside the house fired on the party,” Kumar added.

According to a Police statement, “In the ensuing gunfire, the foreign terrorist who fired from inside the house was neutralized and Abrar also got killed. Two AK-47 rifles were recovered from the site. Abrar was involved in several killings of security forces and civilians.”

The development comes just a day after terrorists killed SPO Fayaz Ahmad and his wife and daughter at their residence in Pulwama.

Last week terrorists killed a police officer and a constable. Over the weekend, two drone explosions took place at Indian Air Force (IAF) station in Jammu.

In yet another incident, two separate drone activities were also spotted over the Ratnuchak-Kaluchak Military area on the intervening night of 27-28 June. The drones flew back after QRT engaged them with firing.

The security forces are on a high alert after the terrorist organizations have carried out several attacks on police personnel in the recent past. Some political experts believe that “The government of Pakistan and the local public are in fear that India may take strong against Pakistan.”
