NEW DELHI, Aug 31: In a heart-warming incident, the chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) S Somanath was given a special treat by the crew members of IndiGo when he boarded a flight of the airlines on Thursday. The touching moment was captured in a video shared by air hostess Pooja Shah on Instagram and became an instant hit appreciated by millions of Indians.
On August 23, India made history as Chandrayaan-3 successfully made a soft landing on the South Pole of the Moon, making India the first and only country to achieve this feat. This monumental achievement is a testament to the tireless efforts and dedication of the scientists and researchers at the ISRO who have been applauded globally for their accomplishments.
The caption accompanying the video reads, “MR S SOMANATH – The chairman of ISRO. Felt privileged to get a chance to serve Mr S Somanath on board our IndiGo flight. It’s always a pleasure to have national heroes on our flight.” The video begins with Pooja making an announcement over the aircraft’s PA system – her voice brimming with pride as she introduces the ISRO chairman to the passengers.
“I’m glad to announce the presence of Mr S Somanath – the Chairman of ISRO, who boarded our flight today. A huge round of applause for Mr Somanath and his team. We are proud to have you on board, sir. Thank you so much for making India proud,” she announced.
The passengers responded enthusiastically, clapping and turning around in their seats to catch a glimpse of the celebrated scientist. Another member of the flight crew approached S Somanath with a tray of food and beverages, along with a note, presumably filled with words of admiration, which the ISRO chief accepted with a smile. The video concludes with Pooja sharing some photographs she took with S Somanath, capturing a memorable moment of recognition for a national hero.
