New Delhi: Ace Indian shuttler HS Prannoy defeated Denmark’s Rasmus Gemke in straight sets during the Indonesia Open 2022 quarterfinals on Friday, June 17, 2022. Prannoy outwitted the Danish player 21-14, 21-12.
The match opened with a 2-2 head-to-head count and Prannoy made clean cross-court smashes and a grip on the game. On the other hand, Gemke made short rallies before being bothered by a knee issue. Prannoy grabbed the opportunity and unleashed his attacks.
Soon Prannoy grabbed a 5-0 lead before entering the break with an 11-7 cushion. However, a service fault by the opponent gave the Indian a massive chance as Prannoy sealed the six-game point opportunity with a forehand smash and won the quarterfinals.
He lead the first half and dominated the second half with long rallies, break points, backhand smashes and cross-court coverage and managed to defeat World no. 13.
The World No. 23 will enter the Semifinals for the second time. He fill face China’s Zhao Jun Peng in the semifinals.
