India to mentor Bhutanese entrepreneurs in a virtual start-up programme
New Delhi: India is hosting Ignite, a virtual start-up mentorship for Bhutanese entrepreneurs for three months, from October 2021 to January 2022.
This programme aims at engagement between Indian and Bhutanese entrepreneurial ecosystems. It will include an interaction between Bhutanese participants from 200 start-ups and Indian scale-ups and unicorns, offering unique insights by top Indian businesses.
The exercise will provide companies with a central platform where they can engage with the sector and industry experts in India and have targeted talks, according to the Indian Embassy in Thimphu, Bhutan.
The mentorship programme will help improve Bhutan’s private sector and address youth unemployment by encouraging educated individuals to start their own businesses.
The sessions will be conducted by the Indian Embassy in collaboration with the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Invest India (India’s national investment promotion and facilitation agency), Startup India, and knowledge partner TiE Delhi-NCR.
By hosting the first-ever Bhutan-India Start-up Summit in February 2020, India had partnered with several enterprises aimed at enhancing Bhutan’s start-up eco-system.
With financial help from the Government of India, the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) has partnered with Bhutan to establish an Entrepreneurship Development Centre.
