New Delhi: India is looking to create ‘Rocket Force’ to counter untrustworthy China and Proxy Pakistan at borders, Said Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat. Addressing at an event – the CDS spoke extensively about India’s future military challenges, security doctrine, and reform process in the armed forces.
The CDS stressed that India has border issues with its two hostile neighbors Pakistan and China and both have shown aggression in recent times. To tackle the challenge General Rawat said “There is a need for extensive use of niche technology to combat various national security challenges. We need to start looking at transformation for the betterment and ensuring that the national security architecture that we want to evolve is capable of dealing with the kind of threats we are seeing.”
“Combat at border areas – between the Chinese soldiers and the Indian troops could be direct or through use of technology, so we have to be prepared, and This preparation can happen only if we work together,” the Chief of Defence Staff said.
On the Taliban in Afghanistan, Chief of Defence Staff said that “nobody ever thought the Taliban will take over the country so fast. Only time will tell what is going to happen in Afghanistan. Let us wait and watch to see whether things are moving the way people thought they were moving,”
The Chinese presence in Afghanistan could be a new challenge for the US, India, and other countries. The Beijing government is looking aggressive to tie its strong relations with the Taliban government.
“India is sharing a land border with China and Pakistan, I think it is time for us to start looking at our strategies as to how we are going to deal with two borders having aggressive neighbors, Pakistan on the western front and China on the north,” Chief of Defence Staff said.
CDS Rawat informed that India is working on having one theatre command each for the western border and northern border.
