I-League 2022: Roundglass Punjab beats Indian Arrows 3-1
New Delhi: The Roundglass Punjab football club (FC) beat Indian Arrows FC in the I-League 2022 at the Guru Nanak Stadium, Chandigarh, on Wednesday, April 06, 2022.
The match began on an intense note as both teams tried possessing the ball. However, the keepers of Punjab and Arrows made saves and thwarted attempts as some players received yellow cards. The first half ended in a goalless draw despite several chances.
The second half began with Punjab charging aggressively against the Indian Arrows. Punjab’s Kean Lewis assisted Kurtis Guthrie in scoring the first goal in the 51st minute. The goal was immediately followed by Guthrie passing to Maheson Tongbram Singh in the 54th minute.
Singh shot the ball straight across the keeper and into the centre of the net and Punjab was in the clear lead. Guthrie also assisted Rupert Nongrum as he scored a third for the team.
Despite a strong defense, Indian Arrows failed to capture the ball and score. Arrows player Satendra Singh Yadav received the ball and scored a first for his team in the 98th minute. But it was too late and Punjab won by a clear 3-1 lead.
