New Delhi: The Manipur football club beat defending champions Services 3-0 during the group encounter of the Hero Santosh Trophy in Malappuram, Kerala, on Sunday, April, 18, 2022.
Manipur began the match by pushing Services to the edge and forcing midfield errors. Though Ngulgoulal Singsit overhit a pass towards Thiyam Chingkheinganba’s run on the left flank inside the box in the 5th minute, Manipur refused to give up.
Manipur’s Lunminlen Haokip forced an error from the Services defence and passed to N. Jenish Singh, who shot the top left corner of the goal.
Manipur’s Lunminlen Haokip rose the highest and headed a shot at the farthest post in the 50th minute. Manipur was leading 2-0 whereas Services were taken aback. Manipur even devoid Services of space as they held the possession of ball.
Manipur’s Jenish Singh hassled and shot from midfield to Thokchom Manichand Singh. But before Singh could goal, B Sunil intervened and the ball in the bottom and Manipur won another goal at the 75th minute.
Manipur ultimately won the match 3-0 against Services.
