Football: After 23 years, captain Nacho Fernandez leaves Real Madrid FC
New Delhi, June 26: Spanish footballer Nacho Fernandez has left the Real Madrid Football Club after remaining with it for 23 years, the media reported on Tuesday.
Nacho,34, joined Real Madrid’s academy at the age of 10 in 2001 and debuted as a senior in the team in 2012. Since then, he made 364 appearances at the club in all competitions.
“It has been months of reflection, indecision, and doubts, but I come to tell you that I need to live one last and different experience with my family and this is the perfect time,” Nacho said.
His last appearance at Real Madrid was a 2-0 Champions League final win over Borussia Dortmund earlier this month.
At Real Madrid FC, Nacho won four La Liga titles, five FIFA Club World Cups, five Spanish Super Cups, two Spanish cups, four European Super Cups, and six UEFA Champions League.
According to the media reports, he is expected to join FC Al-Qadsiah in Saudi Arabia.
