Mumbai: Rohit Sharma sets forward his goal with no insecurities, no external pressure, and a concentration on role clarity and bench strength. Rohit Sharma says he wants to create a happy atmosphere among the team and focus on long-term development rather than a limited focus on winning.
After the Mohali Test, India captain Rohit Sharma responded to a question about Ashwin’s infrequent selection in the playing XI on away tours in recent years. Rohit said, “I really can’t tell you anything about his overseas place and why he doesn’t find it or why he is in the XI. I honestly have no idea as I wasn’t part of the selection at that point so I can’t really tell you what happened there and why was he left out or why was he played and those kinds of stuff.”
The skipper drew a firm line in the sand, stating that he couldn’t speak with any degree of certainty on such decisions made during Kohli’s tenure. After his maiden Test match as captain, Rohit expressed a few critical notes about his own tenure. Rohit stated that winning games were not as essential to him as strengthening the team’s bench strength across all formats. Beyond creating that strength, it was also vital to keep those on the bench motivated and ready to play when the time came.
The major thing here is player is now thinking about the future game and not thinking about the current scenario that may lead to something good for the team.
