Entertainment: Akshay Kumar shoots for Rakshabandhan

Mumbai: The shooting of film star Akshay Kumar’s much-awaited film Rakshabandhan finally began in Mumbai on Monday.

While Bhumi Pednekar will be in the lead female role alongside Kumar in the film, Sachmeen Kaur, Dipika Khanna, Saadia Khatib, and Smriti Shrikant will be essaying the roles of Akshay’s sisters.

Aanand L Rai is directing the film. It is written by Himanshu Sharma and Kanika Dhillon under the banner of Colour Yellow Productions in association with Cape of Good Films and produced in association with Alka Hiranandani and Aanand L Rai. It will be presented and distributed by Zee Studios.

Breaking the news on his social media account, Akshay Kumar said, ‘Growing up my sister, Alka was my first friend. It was the most effortless friendship.

Aanand L Rai’s Rakshabandhan is a dedication to her and a celebration of that special bond. Day one of the shoot today, need your love and best wishes, said Kumar.

Apart from this film, Khiladi Kumar has other projects in his kitty including Bell Bottom, Atrangri Re, Bachchan Pandey, Sooryavanshi, Prithviraj, and Ram Setu.
