Delhi to See Hot Days and Partly Cloudy Skies from April 16–17
New Delhi: Delhi is set to experience a spell of warm weather from April 16 to April 17, with temperatures staying consistently above normal levels, according to the latest forecast of India Meteorological Department.
Over the past 24 hours, the city has already seen a slight rise in both maximum and minimum temperatures, with daytime highs reaching between 38°C and 41°C and nights remaining relatively mild.
The weather on April 16 is expected to begin with clear skies, gradually turning partly cloudy by the afternoon and evening. Daytime temperatures are likely to hover between 39°C and 41°C, accompanied by light northwesterly winds that may ease and shift direction later in the day.
Conditions are expected to intensify on April 17, with partly cloudy skies and the possibility of thundery development in the afternoon or evening. Temperatures could peak between 40°C and 42°C, while minimum temperatures may rise to 22°C–24°C, marking a noticeable increase and remaining above normal across most parts of the city.
Despite the heat, no official heatwave conditions have been predicted. However, authorities warn that the above-normal temperatures could pose moderate health risks, especially for vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, and those with existing health conditions.
Residents are advised to limit prolonged exposure to the sun, stay hydrated, and wear light, loose-fitting clothing. Using head coverings such as hats or umbrellas when outdoors is also recommended as the city navigates this warm spell.
