Delhi: The massive blaze in a Building in Mundka killed 27, Police arrested two
New Delhi: At least 27 people were killed and 12 were injured in a fire at a four-storey commercial building in Mundka on Friday evening.
Police are yet to share details about the identity of the victims. The injured have been admitted to the Sanjay Gandhi Hospital. At least 50 people have been rescued from the building and some are still reported to be missing, police said, adding that the ongoing search operation is likely to be completed in the next 3 to 4 hours.
The city’s fire chief said that “The massive blaze which engulfed a four-storey building in Delhi’s Mundka on Friday began in a factory on the premises that did not have a No Objection Certificate (NOC). The owners of the factory had never applied for a Fire NOC”
The Delhi Fire Service deployed cranes to rescue those trapped in the blaze. However, smoke from the fire spread to the entire building and some people jumped off through the windows to save themselves, while some others used ropes to climb down.
An FIR has been registered u/s IPC 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide), 120 (concealing design to commit an offense punishable with imprisonment), 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) in connection with Delhi’s Mundka fire.
