New Delhi: The Deputy Commissioner of Police (Delhi Police) informed that Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) constable allegedly shot at his own colleague at a CRPF camp in Tughlaqabad, New Delhi.
Delhi Police received the information from Batra Hospital regarding one head constable, Vakil Singh being shot by another constable.
During the inquiry, it was revealed that Singh was allegedly shot by constable Aman Kumar, and Singh died during treatment, DCP Pandey told media.
According to a police statement, Aman Kumar who was holding an X-95 weapon hurled bullets at Vakil Singh. Kumar refused to surrender even after a few senior officers tried to intervene.
Aman Kumar even threatened to shoot anyone who will try to take Singh to a hospital. Constable Vijay Ram tried to control the situation but the accused took a shot at Ram’s chin. The bullet was only able to graze his chin.
Police recovered nine cartridges from the spot and seized the rifle used for it. The accused was later overpowered by nine other police members and then later provided with first aid.
A case of murder has been registered at Govindpuri police station and the body has been handed over to the family.
