Covid-19: PM Modi launches month-long, door-to-door vaccination drive
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday launched a month-long Har Ghar Dastak (House-to-House) Covid-19 vaccination campaign during a virtual review meeting with the Chief Ministers and district administrators of states which reported a lesser vaccination percentage.
He reviewed the districts that covered less than 50 percent of the adult population with at least a single dose and lower coverage of the second dosage.
The fresh campaign aims to provide the second dose through a door-to-door vaccination drive. Health officials will visit those who have not been fully or partially unvaccinated to date.
“During the house-to-house campaign, you all must focus on administering the second dose along with those yet to receive their first dose,” Modi said.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), 45 Indian districts have reported less-than-satisfactory vaccination. They include eight districts each in Jharkhand, Manipur, and Nagaland, six in Arunachal Pradesh, five in Maharashtra, four in Meghalaya, and one each in Assam, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Mizoram, Tamil Nadu, and New Delhi, still lag in vaccination coverage.
Modi urged the district administrators to seek help from religious leaders to burst misconceptions against the vaccine. He also asked officials to ensure a widened vaccination coverage by the year-end.
