Mumbai: Minister of Road Transport & Highways, Nitin Gadkari, released the first unit of this vehicle from Pune’s Chakan Factory. Mercedes-Benz has launched the EQS 580 4Matic in India with a starting price of Rs 1.5 cr. This is also the first locally assembled luxury electric car in India.
In terms of power, the EQS 580 makes 523PS and 855Nm from the dual motors powered by a 107.8kWh battery. The official claimed range is also an impressive 857km ARAI-certified range while this EQS is also quite fast doing 0-100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds along with a top speed of 210km/h. Power is rated at 385kW and the torque stands at 855Nm.
Mercedes-Benz recently launched the Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4Matic+ as a CBU model while the EQS 580 is assembled in India to lower the price it shows. This is the first time that any electric luxury car is assembled in India and also is a big push for ‘Make in India’. The EQS 580 is made at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Chakan, Pune.
In terms of charging, the EQS 580 requires only a 15-minute fast charge to get 260km of range while the EQS is also currently the most efficient EV on sale in India.
Price wise the EQS 580 is also lower than the S-Class with petrol and diesel in locally assembled form while also being massively cheaper than the CBU EQS. This is also the first time that the EQS is assembled outside Germany.
