Actor Anne Heche passes away
Mumbai: American actor Anne Heche passed away after she met with a tragic car crash a week ago. Her car had caught fire and she was immediately rescued and rushed to the hospital.
The 53-year-old was in a state of coma for a week after crashing her car into a house in Los Angeles.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, Heche’s vehicle erupted in heavy fire, which took 59 fire fighters more than an hour to completely distinguish. The two-storey home she crashed in was left uninhabitable.
Despite suffering several burns across her body, Heche also reportedly suffered from a severe anoxic brain injury, as revealed by family members. An anoxic brain injury refers to a medical condition wherein the brain is deprived of oxygen.
Meanwhile, Anne Heche’s family released an official statement that read, “Today we lost a bright light, a kind and most joyful soul. Anne will be deeply missed but she lives on through her beautiful sons, her iconic body of work, and her passionate advocacy.”
“Her bravery for always standing in her truth, spreading her message of love and acceptance, will continue to have a lasting impact,” it added.
According to Heche’s representative, the late actor will remain on life support to allow for a possible organ donation. “Anne Heche is legally dead but her life support treatment will continue temporarily to check if she may be a match for a potential organ donation,” the representative said.
Meanwhile, several celebrities from the Hollywood fraternity paid tribute to the late actor. Heche is known for her role in films including Volcano, Donnie Brasco, the 1998 remake of the Psycho, and even appeared on Dancing with the stars (2020).
