14 People arrested in Pakistan for demolishing Hindu temple
New Delhi: The Pakistani official on Thursday informed that they have arrested 14 people of radical Islamist party in overnight raid for demolishing Hindu temple.
The Hindu temple was demolished on Wednesday in the north-western town of Karak. Human rights activists in Pakistan and the minority community drew condemnation for this activity.
On the temple demolition – local police said that “We have detained at least 14 people in overnight raids and more raids were underway to arrest individuals who participated or provoked the mob to demolish the temple.”
Minister of religious affairs in Pakistan – Noorul Haq Qadri expressed his views over the demolition of the temple. Qadri said that “The attack on the temple is a conspiracy against sectarian harmony.”
In his official tweeter account he tweeted that “Attacks on places of worship of minority religious groups are not allowed in Islam and protection of religious freedom of minorities is our religious, constitutional, moral and national responsibility.”
A one week before – the government of Pakistan allowed Hindu residents to build a new temple in Islamabad on the recommendation of a council of clerics.
In 1947, Most Hindus were migrated to India when India was divided by Britain’s government.
