NEW DELHI, Nov 10: The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu has announced the launch of a pictorial anthology in Nepali entitled “Maile Bujheko Gandhi” (the Gandhi as I understand) to commemorate the 151st birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and to mark the completion of the two-year celebration of ‘150 years of Mahatma’ Gandhi@150.
Smt. Bidya Devi Bhandari President of Nepal launched the book in, presence of Vinay Mohan Kwatra, Ambassador of India to Nepal, at Shital Niwas, Kathmandu, Indian Embassy announced in a press statement on Monday.
The book has been brought by the Indian Embassy in association with ‘B.P.Koirala India-Nepal Foundation’ to cherish the ideals and timeless teaching of the Mahatma to Nepali citizens. The book puts together perspectives on the beloved global leader in the form of personal contributions from twenty-five eminent and distinguished figures representing a rich cross-section of voices and aims to bring young people closer to the life of Mahatma Gandhi.
In another release, the Embassy also declared the opening of a three-storey school building for Shree Laxminiya Janata Secondary School, Kumhrauda, Dhanusha District, under ‘Nepal-Bharat Development Cooperation’ with financial assistance from NRs. 26.24 Million.
India till date has helped Nepal by completing 428 High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDPs). This school was, jointly opened by members of the Indian Embassy, Kathmandu, Department of Urban Development Building Construction, Federal Project Implementation team, Dhanusha, Janakpur Dham, School Management Committee and local representatives. The project represents India’s developing relationship with Nepal and complements the development of education by the Government of Nepal.
Meanwhile Kwatra on behalf of the Government of India handed over 28 ICU ventilators to Bhanubhakta Dhakal, Minister for Health and Population of Nepal on November 8 to further support the efforts of Government of Nepal in its fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. The supply follows on earlier COVID-related assistance extended to Nepal like Remdesivir vials, ICU ventilators, COVID-19 Test Kits (RT-PCR) and essential medicines including Paracetamol and Hydroxychloroquine.
During the handover ceremony, Kwatra confirmed India’s cooperation with the Government and Nepalese civilians in their struggle to overcome the pandemic and affirmed India’s determination to provide all possible assistance in this regard.
