Pakistan: Fist-Fight between Supporters of Khan and Sharif
NEW DELHI, April 14: The supporters of the deposed Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan and his successor Shehbaz Sharif indulged in a full-blown fist fight, the first between the two arch rivals, on Thursday.
A purported video showing the fist fight between the supporters of the former and incumbent prime ministers have gone viral on the social media.
The video shows two angry men abusing each other while hurling food and drinks kept at the table. Suddenly, a young man in a black kurta appears and punches the old man with great force. While some of the people in the crowd tried to stop the young man, a few others took hold of the old man who had fallen to the ground. The old man is then seen being dragged on the floor. Then it becomes a free for all fight with hard objects thrown at each flying all around.
Shehbaz Sharif became the new prime minister by replacing Imran Khan, who had lost a no-confidence vote in the national assembly on April 9 after a week-long political drama during which Khan had accused the Sharif-led opposition as a “stooge of a foreign power” (the United States) to remove his government with the acrimony between the ruling and the opposition groups reaching a new high forcing the Supreme Court of Pakistan to intervene to bring about the change in the government.
