New Delhi:  Trust Pakistan, and its shameless officials, to lie through their teeth, with a straight face.

Pakistan’s Army chief, General Syed Asim Munir, also known as Mulla Munir and Jihadi General, is their guiding light. He has now claimed that Operation Sindoor, which India launched this year (May 7-10) after the April 22 Pahalgam massacre to flush out terror infrastructure inside Pakistan and PoK, has ‘enhanced’ Islamabad’s global stature, the media reported on Wednesday.

Days after Pakistan’s panicked Director-General of Military Operations (DGMO) requested his Indian counterpart on May 10 to stop cross-border firing and halt the military operation, Mullah Munir claimed victory and even got decorated himself as “Field Marshal,” for his army’s ‘sterling achievements’—without ever producing evidence.

The failed marshal of a failed state, as many Pakistanis now openly mock him, made the latest claims on Wednesday while addressing participants of the National Security Workshop–27 (NSW–27) at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi. Early this month, he also extracted from parliament the supreme leadership of Pakistan, set up the Federal Constitutional Court, stripping the Supreme Court’s power, and granted himself lifetime immunity from whatever he would do now.

Munir said Pakistan’s armed forces, intelligence agencies, and law-enforcement institutions continue to show “unwavering professionalism and resolve to safeguard national security.”

The participants received briefings on Pakistan’s regional and internal security landscape, as well as the prevailing national security environment, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said. The briefing was followed by an interactive session with Munir, who emphasized Pakistan’s strategic importance in global affairs.

“The professionalism, resolve, and commitment of the armed forces displayed during Marka-i-Haq (have) enhanced the global stature of Pakistan,” Munir said.

“Our greatest strength lies in national unity, and together, we shall defeat the nefarious designs of our foes.”

Munir highlighted the fluid regional environment shaped by heightened geopolitical competition, cross-border terrorism, and hybrid threats. Despite these complex challenges, he said, Pakistan’s armed forces, intelligence agencies, and law-enforcement institutions continue to show “unwavering professionalism and resolve to safeguard national security.”

India had launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir following the Pahalgam attack in which Muslim terrorists killed 26 Hindu-only civilian tourists. The strikes led to four days of clashes until May 10. Indian Air Force’s Air Chief Marshal A P Singh stated that at least a dozen Pakistani military aircraft, including US-origin F-16 jets, were destroyed or damaged in the attacks, besides scores of airfields and other military establishments, in addition to terror camps..
