New Delhi: Days after Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met him in Kathmandu, Nepal’s Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba will lead a high-level delegation to New Delhi at the invitation of his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi, from April 1.

Accompanied by his wife Dr. Arzu Deuba, Minister of Foreign Affairs Narayan Khadka, senior ministers, secretaries, and officials from the Nepalese Government, Deuba will lead the entourage from April 1 to April 3, 2022.

This is Nepali Congress President Deuba’s first visit outside Nepal after he assumed the PM’s office in July 2021 for the fifth time.

Besides Modi, he will also meet Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu.

On April 2, his delegation will meet External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar, and National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, besides business leaders.

The Nepalese delegation’s India visit assumes significance after Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met Deuba on March 26 in Kathmandu where the two sides signed nine MoUs on diverse subjects.

Meanwhile, in Kathmandu, Nepalese President Bidhya Devi Bhandari administered the oath to Dr. Shankar Prasad Sharma, the newly appointed Nepali Ambassador to India, last week.
