NEW DELHI, Jan 19: The retired army officer Colonel (retd) Vijay Rawat, brother of the late Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) Bipin Rawat, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday.
There was speculation that Vijay Rawat might join the BJP after Rawat met Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.
While meeting the Uttarakhand CM, Vijay Rawat said: “I like the Uttarakhand CM’s vision for the state. It matches what my brother had in his mind. BJP has the same mindset.” Media report said when Rawat was asked if he would join the BJP, he said: “In case they ask me, I’ll serve the people of Uttarakhand.”
