NEW DELHI, Apr 19: The Apple CEO Tim Cook met the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Wednesday a day after opening Apple’s first store in India in Mumbai, underscoring that the company shared his vision of “positive impact technology” and is committed to investing across the country.
Thanking Modi for the welcome, he said his company looked forward to expanding its base and investment plans in the country. Ahead of opening Apple’s second store in India, he revealed that the talks brought out a ‘shared vision’ regarding the positive effects of technology on sectors ranging from education to environment.
He tweeted, “Thank you Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the warm welcome. We share your vision of the positive impact technology can make on India’s future — from education and developers to manufacturing and the environment, we’re committed to growing and investing across the country,” he tweeted.

The Apple CEO met Union Minister for Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw before meeting the Prime Minister. Similar to the grand opening of Apple’s first India store in Mumbai, Tim Cook will welcome customers at the inauguration of Apple’s second store in India at Saket’s Select City Mall in Delhi on Thursday.
Cook had earlier visited the Lodhi Art District and had revealed his amazement at the creative wall art. “Delhi’s Lodhi Art District is a remarkable public space. Congratulations to the St+art India Foundation and so many amazing artists for capturing Indian life so powerfully,” the Apple chief said in a tweet.
He also went to the Indian School of Design and Innovation and gained insights on how students utilised Apple products in designing. “The Indian School of Design & Innovation is helping the next generation of creatives unlock their full potential. Thanks for sharing how you create those amazing designs using iPad!” he said.
On Tuesday, Tim Cook had launched Apple’s first official retail store in India at the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) in Mumbai. The Saket store is smaller than the Apple Store opened in Jio World Drive at Bandra Kurla Complex.
Long queue of fans outside the BKC store in Mumbai marked the opening of the Apple store and similar excitement is expected amongst the tech giant’s followers in Delhi.
An Apple store is aimed at providing a top-notch experience to customers by functioning as a one-stop destination for product sales, services, and accessories. These stores are also architectural marvels, adding to an unrivalled customer experience. On Tuesday, Apple opened its first Indian store at Mumbai’s Jio World Drive Mall in Bandra Kurla Complex.
