Abdullah Abdullah Concludes Visit to India

NEW DELHI, Oct 12: Abdullah Abdullah, Afghanistan leader and Chairman of High Council for National Reconciliation (HCNR) completed his four-day official visit to India.

During his visit, he had met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, External Affairs Minister, S Jaishankar the National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and others and explained his country’s the peace efforts and sought support for the Afghan peace process.

Later in a Twitter post, the Afghan reconciliation negotiator thanked all the office bearers for their warmth.

The tweet read “l successfully concluded a four days official visit to India. I would like to thank excellencies the PM @narendramodi, @DrSJaishankar, the External Affairs Minister, Ajit Kumar Doval, the NSA, the @IDSAIndia, the Govt., & people of India for their warm welcome & hospitality.”. I thank the neighbors of Afghanistan for expressing their full support for the #AfghanPeaceProcess. Regional consensus & cooperation is pivotal for peace in our country”.

After his meeting with Jaishankar Abdullah had tweeted, “As always pleased to meet HE @DrSJaishankar, the External Affairs Minister of India. We exchanged views on the #AfghanPeaceProcess, bilateral relations, & regional support for peace efforts. He assured me of India’s full support for peace in Afghanistan”.

Jaishankar also tweeted “pleased to meet Chairman HCNR @DrabdullahCE. A good discussion on our bilateral cooperation and regional issues. Welcome his insights and perspectives on recent developments. As a neighbour, India remains committed to peace, prosperity and stability in Afghanistan”.

On the same day, Abdullah also spoke at the Institute of Defence Studies and Analyses (IDSA) after which he tweeted “Today I was honored to speak at the prestigious @IDSAIndia attended by distinguished scholars, researchers, former ambassadors & friends of AFG. Thank you for the warm reception, & organising such lively event. We covered the #AfghanPeaceProcess, & related bilateral issues.”

His visit comes at a time when the Afghanistan government and Taliban are trying to negotiate a deal to restore peace in the country since September 12 in Doha, Qatar.
