NEW DELHI, Oct 10: India has extended its helping hand by delivering a portable digital x-ray machine to Bhutan. Ruchira Kamboj, the Indian Ambassador to Bhutan, handed over a Skanmobile DR Mobile digital x-ray unit to Dr Tandi Dorji Foreign Minister, Bhutan. The machine will be used in conducting critical health services in the southern border town of Phuentsholing.
After the handover ceremony, the Indian mission in Bhutan in a release stated, “India’s gesture to continue delivery of essential medical supplies is a reflection of the special bond of trust and understanding between India and Bhutan that have existed over decades. It is a gift from the people and Government of India (GOI) to the people and the Royal Government of Bhutan.”
Ruchira Kamboj in a tweet stated, “Today, I was humbled to hand over a digital X-ray machine from the Government of India to the Government of Bhutan. We stand with Bhutan and hope to move past this together”.
Tandi Dorji in a tweet said, “I would like to thank Government of India for the continued support”.
India is not only supplying medical equipment to Bhutan but also both the countries are collaborating in Phase-3 trials of COVID-19 vaccine. India since the beginning of the pandemic in May 2020 till date has dispatched seven consignments of essential medications to Bhutan under the aegis of the SAARC Emergency Covid-19 fund initiated by Prime Minister of India
Seven consignments of essential anti-COVID medicines include Cetirizine, Hydroxychloroquine and Paracetamol. In addition, India has also dispatched medical supplies such as PPE kits, N95 masks, RT-PCR test kits, x-ray machine to Bhutan.
