New Delhi: On Tuesday The President of Venezuela Nicolas Maduro said that Venezuela plans to vaccinate its citizens with Russian and Chinese coronavirus vaccines, which could arrive in the South American nation in December or January.
“Older people and those with existing diseases would take priority, but that all Venezuelans would be vaccinated.” Maduro said.
In early October, Venezuela had received the first batch of the Russian “Sputnik-V” coronavirus vaccine as part of the Phase Three clinical trial and the government said about 2000 volunteers would participate.
Venezuela has strong diplomatic relations with Russia amid an aggressive sanctions program by the United States of America.
Medical experts are not sure for the coronavirus vaccine which is developed by Russia and reason is in August Russia licensed a vaccine for Covid-19 after less than two months of human testing. Moscow had celebrated this as an achievement.
According to official data, Venezuela reports more than 87000 cases and claimed 747 deaths so far. Medical associations say the number of infections is likely higher.
